When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.

Shimia passed away in September 2025. She spoke often about her future, her fears, and what she hoped her life would mean. Though her life was far too short, Shimia made an incredible impact. She embodied strength and deeply cared for those around her.

Shimia’s chosen family made three promises to her: that she would always have a safe home, that they would find the best care and help her live the fullest life possible, and that her story and legacy of helping others would not be forgotten. This grant honors that promise by supporting children and families in times of need. Through the Northern Lights Foundation, Shimia’s resilience, hope, and love continues to shine.

By donating, watching the video she created with Story North, or sharing her story, you are ensuring that Shimia’s beautiful spirit lives on. 💖
