When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.

In 2023, Regun was diagnosed with osteoscarcoma, a rare bone cancer, followed by the amputation of his left leg. He took the news like a true champion. Regun tackled this new challenge with humor and hard work.

One of his doctors described Regun as a “Magnet”, because people wanted to be around him. Regun was recognized by his teachers and classmates at Proctor High School for his “Grit” due to his perseverance, resilience, and determination to overcome everything that has come his way.

Through the Northern Lights Foundation and this annual event, Regunโ€™s resilience and determination are felt by other Northland families facing similar challenges.

A personal message from those close to Regun:

Regun ended up in the lives of Brent and Shelly Donahue in the most serendipitous way. Even though none of them were looking for each other, God stepped in and made it happen. Regun came from a very abusive and traumatic home life up until he met Shelly. Raising a child with early trauma had its ups and downs, but the Donahues deeply loved Regun and were committed to providing him the home he deserved.

Then Regun faced bone cancer, an above knee amputation and two years after diagnosis, the cancer had spread to his lungs. Although Regun lost the battle, we are SO humbled at the amount of lives he has touched. Regun didnโ€™t believe in YOLO. He believed in YODO. You only die once, so live every day like itโ€™s your last.

By participating in, attending, or donating to the annual golf scramble, you help ensure Regunโ€™s spirit lives on. ๐Ÿค
